IIllustrator
Kari Modén is based in Stockholm, Sweden. After
one year of preliminary education of art Kari moved on to study
graphic design and illustration at RMI Berghs School 1983-85. She
started off as an Art Directors assistant and whilst studying
typography for the renowned Swedish typographer Carl-Fredric
Hultenheim.
Having
a great sense of using colour Kari uses her bold and expressive style
to mix simple shapes with type.
Inspired
by pop-art, South American poster design, fashion and magazines Kari
contributed many illustration/design books which are sold in museum
and book shops all over the world.
Her
unique and distinctive style has been appreciated by various clients
within Scandinavia and worldwide. With her strong integrity and
personal style and touch Kari’s been commissioned for advertising
and editorial work, packaging, patterns, t-shirt prints, wall
paintings and websites. One of Sweden’s biggest ecological brand
Saltå have commissioned Karis illustrations for a range of their
products which has been awarded for their designs.
